Dr. phil. Marielle Sutter
BernDr. Marielle Sutter, lic. rer. soc., is a federally licensed psychotherapist (FSP) and has directed the Institute for Emotion-Focused Therapy (IEFT) Switzerland since 2014. She studied psychology and sociology at the University of Bern and completed her PhD in 2006 under the supervision of Prof. Klaus Grawe and Prof. Franz Caspar.
Since 2008, she has specialized in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals, couples, and families and continues to engage in ongoing training and supervision in this approach. In 2021, she co-authored the professional book “Practice of Emotion-Focused Therapy” with Leslie Greenberg and translated the book into French.
She teaches and provides supervision at IEFT Switzerland and at various institutes and universities in German- and French-speaking regions. In her group practice in Bern, she works clinically with individuals, couples, and families.
Marielle Sutter is a founding member and president of the Swiss Society for Emotion-Focused Therapy. She is also recognized by the International Society for Emotion-Focused Therapy (isEFT) as a supervisor and trainer in Emotion-Focused Therapy for individuals (EFT-I), couples (EFT-C), and families (EFT-F / EFST).
She lives in Bern with her husband and their three children.

Dr. phil. Emma Smith
BernEmma Smith studied psychology at the University of Bern and completed her doctorate under Prof. Klaus Grawe. After a postdoctoral year at King’s College London, she completed the integrative psychotherapy training program at the University of Bern. Through her ongoing advanced training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) under Prof. Leslie Greenberg, she has been recognized as an ISEFT-certified trainer for individual EFT since 2022. She is also currently training as a trainer in "Inner Relationship Focusing" according to Ann Weiser-Cornell.
Emma works as a federally licensed psychotherapist and certified EFT therapist in private practice in Bern and serves as a lecturer and supervisor at the Swiss Institute for Emotion-Focused Therapy (IEFT-CH). As a board member of IEFT-CH, she is particularly interested in promoting the personal and professional development of humanistically oriented psychotherapists.

Dr. phil. Yvonne Egenolf
BernYvonne Egenolf studied psychology at the University of Frankfurt and received her doctorate from the University of Bern. After an integrative cognitive-behavioral therapy training, she first completed the EFT basic training and then attended various advanced trainings in EFT as well as a one-year intensive training in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, SIA Berlin. She is a senior psychologist at the Psychotherapeutic Practice Center of the University of Bern and works as a certified Emotion-Focused Therapist and Supervisor in her own practice. She also complements the IEFT Switzerland team as an internal EFT trainer and is involved in its board of directors.

Martina Scherler
BernMartina Scherler studied Applied Psychology at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). She subsequently completed a postgraduate training in psychotherapy, “Systemic Therapy based on Attachment and Emotion-Focused Therapy,” at the Zentrum für Systemische Therapie und Beratung Bern (ZSB). From 2024 to 2026, she trained as an EFT couples therapist. She is currently continuing her training as an EFT therapist for individual therapy. Martina Scherler is a federally recognized psychotherapist and a specialist in psychotherapy (FSP).
